Muhamad Chatib Basri

Age 59, Indonesian citizen, he has served as a member of the Company’s Nomination and Remuneration Committee since April 2020 and was reappointed for a second term. He is also President Commissioner/Independent Commissioner of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. (since December 2019) and President Commissioner/Independent Commissioner of PT XL Axiata Tbk. (since March 2017).

He previously served as Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia (2013-2014), Chairman of Investment Coordinating Board of the Republic of Indonesia (2012- 2013), Vice Chairman of the National Economic Committee of the Republic of Indonesia (2010-2012), Special Advisor to the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia (2006-2010), Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia for G-20 (2006 – 2010) and Advisor to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (2004-2005).

M. Chatib Basri is a member of the World Bank Advisory Council on Gender and Development, and Chairman of the Advisory Board at Mandiri Institute. He also served as the Thee Kian Wie Visiting Professor at Australian National University, and is also a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia. He was a Senior Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, United States (2015-2016) and a member of the Asia Pacific Regional Advisory Group of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) (2010-2012).

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of University of Indonesia in 1992, then earned a Master of Economic Development and Ph.D. in Economics from Australian National University in 1996 and 2001 respectively.
