Nothing gratifies more than seeing our children pursue their educations in the classroom. Indika Energy's generous support of our school facilities has enabled students to gain better access to knowledge. This just goes to show how Indika Energy not only develops our community, but also empowers our children to ultimately secure their future through education.

Bank Sampah Srikandi Bersatu, East Kalimantan
Thanks to the guidance from Petrosea for Kelompok Usaha Bersama Srikandi Bersatu (United Srikandi Trash Bank), we can continue to transform plastic trash into something more valuable. The trash we thought had no value can now be sold to provide extra income for the families. This is very beneficial for us, very inspiring.
Tempe Jaya Murni, East Kalimantan
Previously, we always failed trying to make tempe (fermented soy bean cakes). But thanks to the training provided, we know how to make really tasty tempe as well as how to market it. When we encounter problems, we can even consult and ask questions. The best is that our tempe can now sell well in the market.
Indika Energy focuses on creating a positive outcome for its shareholders, employees, and stakeholders in the communities in which we undertake our businesses. We understand that we share a common future, and that it is imperative to engage communities through identification of their needs and participation in programs into which they have direct input to ensure the sustainability of the environment in which we operate and where they live.
Our CSR programs are created for the Indonesian people with the objective of educating and instilling them with the culture of their homeland and values toward integrity, while enabling them to create a healthier way of life. Hence we are developing and delivering programs and activities that are aligned with and support the Indika Energy Group’s business strategies, while promoting meaningful change in communities toward improving the quality of life.

Working Together for a Cleaner Jakarta
One fine day, more than 370 volunteers from Indika Energy Group gathered in force to join other concerned Jakarta residents intent on cleaning up Jakarta’s main business district artery, Jalan Sudirman. Participation in Clean Up Jakarta Day is a perfect match to Indika Energy’s Action for the Earth (Aksi untuk Bumi) program promoted publicly as #SaatyaDietSampah and #HematEnergiHebat, and its working together cross-sectoral employee group, all of which reflect Indika Energy’s commitment to active and effective Corporate Social Responsibility.
Guiding Students to Greater Understanding of Energy
Cirebon Electric Power (CEP) exercises Good Corporate Citizenship in various ways by complying energy sector regulations, utilizing clean coal technology, and cultivating a transparent relationship within the community. A large part of this effort by this Indika Energy affiliate centers on teaching young people the importance of energy and producing it in an environmentally responsible manner. Guided by a professional CEP technician and members of its management team, the students are being provided with general knowledge about how the power plant works to produce electricity as efficiently and environmentally safely as possible.
Providing Access to Computer-based Education
Indika Energy works closely with Yayasan Pemimpin Anak Bangsa (YPAB) to facilitate access to proper educations for young people who would remain mired in an unending cycle of ignorance and poverty. Indika Energy provides access to computer-based education through the “Cyber Peek” program, held at the YPAB learning centers in Tanah Abang and Bintaro, where participants in the Packet A, B, and C programs get the opportunity to learn the basics of how to use Microsoft Office software, as well as gaining experience with the cyber world through searching the internet for information supportive of their study and vocational or work activities.
Taking Care of Community’s Health Care Needs
Tripatra, a subsidiary of Indika Energy, collaborated with local Community Health Care Centers (Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat, Puskesmas) to provide free regular checkups for the elderly and children under five years of age. This program aims to increase health awareness and wellbeing in the community by assisting its more vulnerable elements with improved access to quality health care facilities, including appropriate treatment for any ailments, and nutritional supplements and counselling, especially for elderly and children.
Providing Skills to Build Better Future
Petrosea, a subsidiary of Indika Energy Group and a leading contract miners in Indonesia, takes sustainability a quantum leap into the realm of sustainability through its livelihood program, which focuses on economic empowerment through provision of skills, business management training, and a savings and loan cooperative to keep newly established small-scale businesses moving and growing.
Conserving the Environment for Lasting Impact
As a shipping company, one of MBSS’s main concerns is the curbing and mitigating of any possible negative impact of it operations in coastal areas. MBSS is well aware that the very nature of its business, which involves conveying large shipments of coal, could give rise to unwanted impacts on the coastal environment, such as the effects of coal spillage, that could create problems for the communities along its shipping routes. For this reason, besides contributing to village empowerment through educational, health and other social welfare activities, MBSS exerts a special focus on the environment in its sustainability endeavors.
As a good corporate citizen of Indonesia, Indika Energy understands the importance of transparency in relation to our business activities with potential for impact on the environment and communities around our operational sites. The Sustainability Report we have published provides our stakeholders a look at what we are doing to curb negative impacts and increase benefits within the physical, social, and economic environments in which we operate.
